Technology Platform

Five established routes to antibody discovery — and how we choose

No single discovery technology fits every target. We benchmark the established routes openly, then select and tailor the strategy around your antigen, timeline and downstream application.

Technology platform Timeline Library size / throughput HC–LC pairing Strengths Limitations
Hybridoma technology 3–6 months ~3,000 clones Native Classic and reliable; high affinity; natural in vivo immune maturation Requires animal immunisation; low fusion efficiency; long cycle
Phage display 1–3 months >1010 Non-native In vitro selection; no species restriction; fully human antibodies accessible Non-native heavy/light chain pairing; requires additional validation
Single B-cell cloning 2–4 weeks 100–10,000 clones Native High throughput; preserves natural diversity; functional screening moved upstream High technical barrier; depends on single-cell sorting instrumentation
Yeast display 2–4 months 107–109 Non-native FACS-compatible; well suited to affinity maturation Smaller library than phage display; requires specialist expertise
AI-driven design Weeks In silico screening N/A Rapid candidate identification; structure-guided optimisation Still evolving; accuracy depends on training data
HKIG technology strategy 45–55 days to clone delivery Hybridoma core, plus single B-cell & phage display Native Next-generation high-efficiency hybridoma as the core platform, inheriting 45 years of CAS antibody development experience Immunisation and screening strategies tailored per project — one stop from antigen design to candidate molecule delivery

Functional clones recovered per screening round

Phage display ≈100
Yeast display ≈50
Single B-cell cloning ≈100
Hybridoma (HKIG core) ≤500

Functional clone = an antigen-specific clone confirmed by binding or functional assay. Competitor figures are typical values reported in the literature and in routine CRO practice — phage display ≈100 (range 20–200), yeast display ≈50 (25–100), single B-cell cloning ≈100 (30–300). The HKIG figure is the maximum output of a single screening round on our next-generation hybridoma platform.

Our strategy: speed without compromising native pairing

HKIG inherits 45 years of antibody development expertise from the Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, CAS. We use a next-generation high-efficiency hybridoma platform as our core, while maintaining single B-cell cloning and phage display capability. Murine monoclonal antibody discovery takes only 45–55 days from immunisation to hybridoma cell line delivery.

  • Immunisation and screening strategies customised to each project
  • One-stop coverage from antigen design through candidate molecule delivery
  • Native heavy/light chain pairing preserved from the outset

Service System

One integrated service chain — four modules

HKIG has built a complete technical service chain around two main lines: antibody drug early discovery and custom protein production. Every module can be commissioned independently or combined into a single one-stop programme.

01

Quality & Advantages

A single quality standard, applied to every deliverable

Purity, monomer content, endotoxin and affinity are tested against defined acceptance criteria — and reported, not assumed.

Test itemAcceptance criterionMethod
Antibody purity (reduced)> 90%SDS-PAGE
Antibody monomer purity> 90%SEC-HPLC
Endotoxin< 1 EU/mgLimulus amoebocyte lysate (LAL)
Recombinant protein purity> 90%SDS-PAGE / SEC-HPLC
Supernatant antibody concentrationQuantitative reportQuantitative assay

Expressibility assessed first

Small-quantity validation before scale-up, so amplification risk is identified early rather than late.

Transparent reporting

Every programme closes with a Technical Report containing sequences, QC data and process records.

Flexible by design

Expression system, quantity, purification process, endotoxin limit and constant-region engineering are all adjustable.

Standard deliverables
